Real estate development involves many different activities, including the renovation and re-lease of existing buildings as well as buying raw land and selling improved properties to others. The job of the real estate developer is to coordinate all of these activities. It is important to note that development is different from construction. A developer oversees the process of improving a property, but does not actually build anything. For example, a typical developer will buy a piece of land, determine its value, develop a plan for the builders, provide funding, and then ultimately sell the finished product.
